
Part-Time Accountant
The Accountant Position is a part-time salaried position, with an anticipated average of 10 hours per week, and has primary responsibility for handling financial assets and affairs of the church, as directed by the Director of Support Services & Finance Elder. The person in this position must have a heart passion for providing financial stewardship for the church, for maintaining the business integrity of the church, and for building and maintaining trust with banks, business vendors, denomination officials, congregation members and ministries of the church. This person must be a team player who is organized, familiar with church dynamics and able to manage ongoing financial affairs of the church.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Church Leadership Team

Serve as contributing member of the staff and support the Session (Elder Board)

Work closely with Director of Support Services & Finance Elder to fulfill the purpose of Faith United Church

Keep complete confidentiality regarding all finances for Faith United and its members
Financial Duties

Oversee all giving unit's offering & cash receipts / prepare contribution statements

Timely payment of accounts payables along with yearly 1099’s & 1096
-
Reconcile monthly checking accounts, savings accounts & credit card statements

Do payroll, payroll tax deposits, payroll quarterly & annual reports
-
Review AR & AP balances
-
Prepare journal entries
-
Prepare monthly financial statements for session & annual meeting

Do Use Tax reporting & make appropriate payments
-
Oversee annual corporate reporting
-
Attend finance & stewardship meetings and an occasional session meeting

Annually prepare for the books for audit inspection
Additional Requirements
-
Maintain/supervise the church financial records, ensuring that Session policies are followed, and that overall financial assets are appropriately managed/administered/stewarded according to IRS laws

Work closely with finance elder regarding necessary insurance (property, officer's liability insurance) with indemnification, etc. is in place and reviewed/maintained

Keep clear, accurate and adequate records with supporting documentation of all church receipts and expenditures

File documents and reports with denomination and/or state and federal government as required

•Excellent communication skills, Including verbal, written, and listening skills
•A strong work ethic towards completing things in a timely manner
•Exceptional organizational skills with an ability to keep financial affairs and accounts current
•Respect for the confidentially of church business, church records and the individual information of Its members
•Skills in working with computers (PC and Mac) and financial software (Currently using Sage, Church Windows & Planning Center Services)
